Thrill to make the final with a convincing win
Katrina Keenan - 21 December 2000

Wednesday 20th December

What a fantastic day for cricket – hardly a cloud in the sky and scorching hot. Conditions were excellent for cricket!

A huge crowd gathered including Dot's trusty fan club down at third man and the usual "Fab 3" supporters. Mr Blobby even made an appearance!

We fielded first and through some tight bowling and outstanding fielding we were able to bowl India out for 117 which was a pretty awesome effort on such a great track. Only Purnima Rau, who opened the batting for India, showed any resistence scoring 67 not out.

The White Ferns were underway quickly with some big hitting square of the wicket from Rollsy. She hit a huge six over backward square and that was pretty sweet. Anna was ultra consistent compiling another 50 with some great drives through cover and some perfectly weighted shots through backward point. After losing Rollsy, Em Drumm came to the crease and finished the job scoring a brilliant 47 off 43 balls.

We won the semi final– what a great feeling!

Sky TV covered the game live, ball by ball and we enjoyed the opportunity to watch the highlights package later on in the evening. It's so great to see the game on TV.

We enjoyed a few laughs especially when Mr Blobby (for those of you who don't know what Mr Blobby is – he is a big pink cartoon type thing – only today he was the blow up doll version) came running out on to the field (assisted by two supporters) and planted one on Anna when she scored her fifty. Anna obliged with a hug – it was great. It's just not something we are accustomed to in cricket, supporters let alone blow up dolls running onto the field to congratulate us.

It was such an enjoyable thing today to win and to win so convincingly.
