Marching demo from the land of Riverdance
Katrina Keenan - 13 December 2000

Monday 11 December

Another fantastic day at the cricket with a convincing win over South Africa at Lincoln Green. Batting first we scored a mammoth 265! Thanks largely to a sensational batting display from Emily who scored 108no. Rollsy got us off to a flyer with 44 and Bill Tiffen was in the action again with a quickfire 35. Anna O chipped in with a solid 32.

South Africa came out positively but lost their way and we eventually bowled them out for 107.

A very pleasing win which has secured us a spot in the semi-finals.

After the game we enjoyed a BBQ with the Irish team who arrived fashionably late.

In a moment of silliness one night all the kiwi girls assembled outside our units to learn some marching routines from Cate our manager (a former marching girl) – I mean you never know when this will come in handy. We had found some ultra cheesy music in the form of the "Dallas" theme and as we marched away to the tune we though "yeh were pretty good at this". So we said to the Irish girls "we challenge you to come up with a better marching routine".

What a complete laugh! The Irish girls arrived at the BBQ in full chorus, in time, in line and fully costumed – very, very funny! Duane from CricInfo could be seen looking out from his window and he must have thought, "What are they doing?"

The things we do – all the same it was a fun and entertaining evening. I hear a few of the Irish girls like to sing a bit – so tomorrow I will organise a few songs for them to sing at the CricInfo Christmas party which is coming up this Saturday.

The band I sing in "The Fab 3" will be playing at the party, and we are pretty keen to see some of the players up there during the night – I'm sure some of the English girls will be starters – by the way Romper I've got "Stop".
