A lovely way to celebrate 50 games Katrina Keenan - 10 December 2000
Saturday 9th December Today we played India at the BIL Oval in Lincoln. A good crowd had come to watch the game and our trusty fans, Aaron, Sean and Brendan were there again with their flags, tambourines, cowbells and Mexican waves to entertain the crowd. After winning the toss we made a cautious start but with wickets in hand it allowed us to launch an assault on the Indian attack towards the latter stages of the game. Debbie batted really well to reach her half century and in doing so become the first women in the history of the game to score 4000 runs – an awesome, awesome feat. Anna continued her excellent form scoring 89 runs and the partnership between Deb and Anna provided the backbone for our innings. Then came Haidee!! In some of the most awesome hitting seen in the women's game, Haidee bludgeoned 53 runs off just 36 deliveries – it was a really brilliant batting display. This enabled us to reach a total of 224. We started well in the field and were able to apply pressure with some tight bowling. India started to gather momentum but lost wickets at crucial stages. They reached 150 runs for the loss of 8 wickets – a great victory for the CLEAR White Ferns. At the end of the game we all celebrated the win in the team dressing room, making special mention of Debbie's outstanding feat. The team also recognised this game as my 50th ODI for New Zealand and that was pretty special. After our recovery session we had a team BBQ with the four Yoplait Cup secondary school © CricInfo
