Narendra Hirwani of Madhya Pradesh today become the 16th bowler in the country and the first from M.P to capture 300 wickets in Ranji Trophy when he claimed his second wicket in the Vidarbha first innings at Nagpur.

31 Year old Hirwani made his Ranji Debut in 1984-85 against Rajasthan at Bhilai. Since then he has played 61 Ranji Trophy matches and captured 301 wickets at an average of 23.76, he has captured 5 wickets in an innings 29 times and 10 wickets in a match 5 times. His best has been 8-52 against Vidarbha at Nagpur in 1993-94. Hirwani represented Benagal in 1996-97 season. He took the world by storm by taking record of 16 wickets in his first test against West Indies in Chennai in 1987-88. He has taken 66 wickets in 17 Tests.
