Indian domestic: Andhra take first innings lead 27 November 1999
Andhra slumped to 250 all out after ending the second day on 217 for 4. Nitin Kalekar ripped through the middle order, picking up 4 crucial wickets. Though they slumped to 250, they had already secured a first innings lead and that may prove crucial in the end. In response, the Goa team could not do much better. PJ Rodrigues and Milind Chavan opened the batting and began steadily. However, Chavan fell first, when he was bowled by Shahabuddin after he had made 18 runs. Rodrigues went on to make 68, but was run out. After the openers were dismissed Vivek Kolambkar made 34 but could not go on to make a big score. At the end of the day Sachin Uphadhye and Rajesh Naik were at the crease. With the score on 158 for 3 and just one day to go, it is unlikely that the Goans could force a result in this match. If they don't' win the match outright, the initiative will be with the Andhra team who managed to secure the first innings lead. © CricInfo
