Services-J & K tie poised for exciting finish

New Delhi: Chasing a modest victory target of 159, Services were 24
for two in the second innings of the penultimate day of their North
Zone Ranji Trophy league match against Jammu & Kashmir here on Monday.
Resuming at 262 for eight in their first essay, Services added just
one run before their innings folded up. They however were able to take
a first innings lead of 42 runs. When J & K batted again, Services leg
spinner Sachin Kulkarni (4 for 58) and Syed Javed (3 for 4) restricted
the batsmen. Despite valuable contributions from Ranit Bali (31),
Ashwani Gupta (33), Sanjay Kumar (31), Dhruv Maharaj (28) and Amit Pal
Singh (34), J & K were all out for 200.
In their second innings, Services suffered an early jolt when left arm
spinner Pradeep bali struck twice in the same over to dismiss Sarabjit
Singh (13) and Syed Javed (0) at 21. Narinder Singh (7) and CD Thomson
(0) were batting at stumps with Services still requiring 135 to win
with eight wickets in hand.
