New Gauteng Captain is Announced - Clive Eksteen Caryn Snashall - 7 May 1999
The Gauteng Cricket Board has pleasure in announcing that Clive Eksteen has been appointed captain for the 1999/2000 season. Ken Rutherford, captain for the past three season's has requested to be relieved of the responsibility of the captaincy in order to better concentrate on his cricket as well as build his future in the game outside the playing arena. Clive Eksteen's appointment by the GCB Board was unanimous. Clive, as one of Gauteng's longest serving players feels that he still has four or five years of cricket left in him. He believes that he will, with the assistance and support of Ken and other senior players, be well equipped to meet the challenge.
