BANGLADESH v ZIMBABWE
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999

At Nairobi Gymkhana, Nairobi, October 11. Zimbabwe won by 48 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe. International debut: Shafiuddin Ahmed.

After their disappointing performance against Kenya, the Bangladeshi batsmen put up more of a fight against tougher opposition. However, their bowlers again struggled. The Flower brothers, Grant and Andy, gave Zimbabwe an excellent start, putting on 161 for the first wicket, and Guy Whittall later hit an undefeated 79. Bangladesh were chasing 300 for the second successive match; a fourth-wicket partnership of 87 between Habib-ul-Bashar and Akram Khan, the captain, hinted at a surprise. Once they were parted it was all downhill, though Bangladesh's 257 was their highest total in one-day internationals.

Man of the Match: G. W. Flower.
