PAKISTAN v INDIA Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999
At Hyderabad, September 28. Pakistan won by five wickets. Toss: India. Tendulkar chose to bat on a pitch which was less friendly than it looked and soon had cause to regret it: Waqar Younis, who had just returned from bowling Glamorgan to the County Championship, dismissed him and Ganguly in his first two overs. The middle order advanced to 166 for four, but the innings fell apart when six wickets went down for four runs, with Aqib Javed bowling four of them. Pakistan's openers, Saeed Anwar and Shahid Afridi, made a determined reply, scoring 70 in 13 overs on a surface which grew ever more awkward. After a mid-innings wobble, Inzamam-ul-Haq, who batted steadily for an hour and a half, saw his side home with time to spare. Man of the Match: Aqib Javed. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
