BANGLADESH v KENYA 1997-98 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999
At Chennai (formerly Madras), May 23 (day/night). Kenya won by 27 runs, Bangladesh's target having been revised to 226 from 49 overs. Toss: Kenya. Kenya, who had to win to maintain hopes of reaching the final, began well. Otieno and Ravindu Shah scored at four an over, before the experienced pair of Tikolo and Odumbe took charge. The Kenyans collapsed, though losing three wickets on 203. A partial power failure (all matches in this tournament were played under lights, to avoid the summer heat) interrupted the Bangladesh reply. It looked well set at 171 for five in the 41st over, but Tikolo added a couple of late wickets to his 65 runs and gave Kenya victory. Man of the Match: S. O. Tikolo. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
