INDIA v AUSTRALIA 1997-98 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999
At Kanpur, April 7. India won by six wickets. Toss: Australia. Australia never recovered from the loss of Mark Waugh in the third over and India won a one-sided contest to secure their place in the final. Agarkar, bowling at a lively pace, took four wickets, including those of Ponting and Moody, the only batsmen to hit decent scores. India raced towards their target and, at 28 overs, had reached 175 without loss, their record first-wicket stand against Australia. Warne, struggling to find any form, did then manage to dismiss Tendulkar, but only after he had reached his 13th century in one-day internationals. Tendulkar struck seven sixes and five fours in his 89-ball innings. Man of the Match: S. R. Tendulkar. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
