PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999
At Lahore, November 4 (day/night). Pakistan won by eight wickets. Toss: Pakistan. West Indies sank to their third straight defeat as left-handers Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail returned to form together in an undefeated third-wicket stand of 164. Anwar took 129 balls over his 13th century in limited-overs internationals, lashing 13 fours. Waqar Younis and Saqlain Mushtaq pegged back West Indies by claiming four top-order wickets between them, after Walsh lost his third successive toss. Stuart Williams and Simmons added 74 to lift the visitors in mid-innings but, with a suspect tail, their freedom was restricted and their total was the lowest of the preliminary round. Man of the Match: Saeed Anwar. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
