KENYA v ZIMBABWE
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1999

At Nairobi Gymkhana, Nairobi, October 19. Zimbabwe won by 82 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe. International debut: J. Angara.

The two most reliable batsmen in the tournament, Andy Flower and Otieno – averaging 73.60 and 85.25 respectively – both failed in this match. That apart, matters largely followed the script, despite drab weather. Grant Flower compensated for his brother's lapse, sharing a partnership of 150 with Rennie. Then Evans hit 48 off 43 balls. Kenya fell quickly into crisis: Andrew Whittall claimed the first three wickets and the seventh fell at 71. Hitesh Modi and Asif Karim stayed together and threatened yet another one-day international partnership record: but, after adding 100, they fell 19 short. There was little more resistance and Zimbabwe won by 82 runs to claim the President's Cup.

Man of the Match: A. R. Whittall. Man of the Series: A. Flower.
