Hampshire CCC's first 'Millennium Member'
Hampshire CCC Press Release - 22 August 1999
No more membership fees until the year 3000 has just become a possibility at Hampshire County Cricket Club from today (22 Aug) as the club launches their new category of membership, the Millennium Member.
This is the first time that the club has offered a 'transferable' membership and since the new category of membership is valid for 'as long as cricket is played at HCCC's new First-class Oval at West End' the membership has the potential of lasting until at least the year 3000!
The first person to sign up for the new membership, which offers special privileges and status when the Club moves to it's new ground at West End in 2001, is Wilfred Weld, HCCC's president.
Wilfred Weld with his wife Sally, presented their cheque for £10,000 to the Club's chairman on the outfield during the CGU National League match v Gloucestershire.
Further information on the limited membership is available from Jane Kerr in the Appeal Office.
