The selectors once again ignored former national skipper and middle-order batsman Akram Khan who led Bangladesh to their maiden ACC and ICC trophy wins, but paid the price for the national team's failure under his leadership over the last 18 months. Akram was first dropped for the ACC trophy in Nepal which Bangladesh won convincingly under his former deputy Aminul Islam.

All the 15 cricketers of the victorious ACC team have been retained in the side with the lone inclusion of off-spinner Sabbir Khan.
Aminul Islam has been retained as captain while Khaled Mahmud will act as his deputy.
