Both selections are surprising. Pollock was ruled out of contention for the Wills tourney in Bangladesh with a back injury, so it is surprising that his province are considering playing him. Klusener who has been out of action with an ankle injury - was not expected to be fit until at least December, so his inclusion suggests that the injury has responded well to treatment.
Both players will want to prove themselves fit and in form before the Test series against the West Indies commences in just over a month's time.
