Venue changes for North Zone Ranji ties

The tense political situation in Jammu & Kasmir has forced the BCCI to
remove the state as a centre for North Zone Ranji Trophy matches this
season. In a message sent to all the units of North Zone (Punjab,
Delhi, Haryana, Himachal and the Services), Sharad Diwadkar,
executive secretary of BCCI, has said: ``It has been decided that all
the Ranji Trophy zonal matches of Jammu and Kashmir will be played
away. That means your association will have to host the one-day
limited overs match and the Ranji Trophy league match against Jammu
and Kashmir at a venue to be decided by you. Needless to add that the
dates advised to you earlier will remain the same.''
The J-K Association was originally scheduled to play host to four
North Zone matches, against the Services (Oct. 21: one-day; Oct.
22-25: Ranji); Haryana (Nov 6; Nov 7-10); Himachal (Nov 19; Nov
20-23); and Delhi (Nov 25; Nov 26-29). The J-K Association had
planned to conduct all the matches at Udhampur.
