Harris, in conjunction with newcomer Stephen Cunis, added 50 as they helped propel St Albans to 157 for eight from its 40 overs at Burwood Park yesterday.
Harris then tied up an end with his slow-mediums capturing three for 18 off his eight-over stint, his fine figures dented slightly by conceding 10 from his final over.
Cunis also had an impressive all-round return taking one for nine from his six overs of medium pace. Defending champion Riccarton gave newly merged club Lancaster-Woolston a loss in its first official outing at Garrick Park.
The home side was restricted to 115 in 37 overs, a target Riccarton reached in the 32nd over.
The most one-sided encounter came with South Canterbury crushing Christchurch Suburban by 137 runs at Redwood Park.
South Canterbury posted the round's highest score, 207 for five, with a fine batting effort then routed Suburban for 68 by the 25th over.
Neighbour Mid-Canterbury was also successful against Sydenham in Ashburton. Sydenham made 157 for seven led off by a fine 65 by Colin Wood, but the home side overhauled that, losing just four wickets with some solid contributions.
Burnside-West and Marist engaged in a close tussle at Warren Park, Marist overtaking Burnside-West with just one wicket to spare. Burnside made only 96, struggling against some demanding bowling from Steve McCloy and Chris O'Connell.
High School Old Boys made only 102 against North Canterbury, but it proved enough as the home side succumbed by five runs in another tight battle at Mandeville Park.
The West Coast-Old Collegians match was abandoned with heavy rain in Greymouth rendering Nimmo Park unplayable.
