Fraser in demand by Middlesex

MIDDLESEX are willing to make Angus Fraser the highest-paid player in their history in a last-ditch effort to keep him at Lord's.

England's most popular cricketer will be offered £75,000, double his current salary, to stay another season. Middlesex are desperate to keep 33-year-old Fraser, who is looking for a salary to reflect his Test achievements.

Worcestershire are keen to prise Fraser away from Lord's, but the player said last night: ``Contrary to reports, I haven't quit the club. I'm going to consider my options over the winter. When I do make my mind up Middlesex CCC will be the first to know. It's true I'm seriously considering my position, but I haven't made my mind up yet.''

Middlesex, who have already made Fraser an offer, said in a statement last night: ``We have reiterated our commitment and desire to keep Angus at Middlesex.''
