Legendary Sunil Gavaskar has accepted the invitation of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to attend the International Cup to be contested at the Bangabandhu National Stadium from Oct 24 to Nov 1, according to BCB general secretary Syed Ashraful Huq.
``He will come on a personal visit to watch a few matches and will not appear in any TV interviews during the meet'', Ashraful said. He will be arriving on Oct 27.
Ashraful also said that the Board has yet to receive a confirmation from Imran Khan and his wife who have also been invited by the BCB.
TIGHT SECURITY: Five security agencies have been assigned to maintain law and order at the Bangabandhu National Stadium during the tournament.
ZIMBABWE: Zimbabwe will be the first team to arrive in Dhaka.
England will be the next to arrive. They are coming in the afternoon the same day while New Zealand, who will take on Zimbabwe in the inaugural match of the nine-nation knock-out tourney involving all Test-playing countries will arrive on Oct 20.
South Africa will come on Oct 22 followed by world champions Sri Lanka two days later. Pakistan will arrive on Oct 27.
