No LOI status for England-Bangladesh fixture
Sports Reporter
8 October 1998
The Bangladesh-England match, scheduled at the BKSP ground on October
23, will not be considered as a One-Day International (ODI) match
because of some technical problems, a senior BCB official disclosed
last night.
Talking to The Daily Star, the BCB official who wants to remain
anonymous, said that BKSP was not recognised as a ODI venue by the
International Cricket Council because it does not fulfil the
requirements for a ODI, such as public galleries and TV reply system
for the third umpire.
England, who will arrive in the city on October 18, will play their
first practice match against Zimbabwe on October 21 at the BKSP
ground. That match, too, will not be a ODI.
