Rehman appeared before the one-man judicial commission, appointed by the Pakistani government on Saturday in Lahore.
With Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum in the chair, Rehman said: ''I have no knowledge of match-fixing and betting by the cricketers during the period I represented Pakistan in Test matches.'' ''I have been out of the team for the last two years and I have no knowledge of betting and match-fixing,'' the 23-year-old bowler said.
Rehman, who has earlier told the Pakistan Cricket Board probe committee that Wasim had offered him to bowl badly during the 1993-94 tour of New Zealand, disowned his statements on Saturday.
He also disowned the affidavit reportedly given by him to the Probe Committee of the PCB which is headed by Justice Ejaz Chaudhry of the Federal Shariat Court. The learned Judge told the cricketer that he was committing a perjury and could be arrested if does not come out with the truth. Ata was also asked to disclose his national identity card number and he said he was not carrying his NIC with him. The Judge directed him to bring his NIC on the next hearing on October 8.
Justice Qayyum directed the Registrar of the Court to secure the interim report of the Probe Committee which should be placed before the court next week.
Justice Qayyum told the cricketer that he was lying about the affidavit and was making a wrong statement before the court.
''I will have to punish some players to get to the bottom of this whole episode which has embarassed the country,'' said visibly annoyed judge.
Justice Qayyum ordered that the other two members of the Probe Committee namely Nusrat Azeem, President, Karachi City Cricket Association, and Mian Muhammad Munir, President, Lahore Division Cricket Association, along with Aamir Sohail, Wasim Akram, Salim Malik, Dr. Aamir Aziz and Dan Kiesal, physiotherapist of Pakistan, team be summoned before the court on October 8.
