SALE OF NORTHLANDS ROAD

From Victor Isaacs

Thursday 7th May.

Hampshire announced that the County Ground at Northlands Road has been sold.

The club has sold the ground to Berkeley Homes (Hampshire) Ltd., as a prime site for quality home development. A sum of £5 million has been agreed, and the final part of the sale will be completed in October 2000.

Tony Baker, Hampshire Chief Executive commented that he was delighted that the ground will go to a prestigious and well-known developer, and will pave the way to further progress being made on the New ground at West End. It would still, however, be a sad day, when the club has to leave their headquarters where first-class cricket has been played since 1885.
