Partnership between Nat West and Northern League continues

The League Cricket Review

1 July 1998

The continued partnership between the National Westminster Bank and the Northern Cricket Junior League has proved beneficial for both partners. In respect of the Nat West Bank their name appears on Ceefax, Teletext, national and regional newspapers with the Junior Cricket results on a weekly basis.

From the League's perspective it is pleasing to note that some of the former and current players are attracting the attention of county cricket clubs. Duncan Catterall, from Leyland DAF, and Gareth White, from Netherfield, have contracts with Worcestershire and Northamptonshire respectively, whilst Lancashire's Andrew Flintoff used to play for St. Annes. Kevin Howarth, Carnforth's professional, who used to play for Netherfield, and Lancaster is currently opening Leicestershire's Second XI bowling attack.

Atul Sachdeva of Preston and Duncan Whalley of St. Annes have also played for Leicestershire Seconds, and will do so again in their school holidays after sitting their ``A'' levels.

So all in all the Nat West is proving a sound investment, and a good rate of return with Northern Junior League cricket.
