Both police officer Geoffrey Mapp, a veteran cricketer, and son Curtis made their debut for BCL against United Carlton in the Courts/Suzuki Division 1 competition.
As the elder Mapp batted doggedly for 62 to help rescue BCL, his offspring looked on in the pavilion waiting patiently to go in at No. 9.
``My father is a serious man when it comes to cricket,'' 18-year-old Curtis told SunSport.
``He told me the game has a lot of money in it and that I should use my ability and take my game to the highest possible level.''
The youngster, who celebrates his 19th birthday on August 3, is comfortable playing alongside his dad.
``I have no problem playing with my father who only shows me the right way. He, along with my coach, George Burke at the St. George Secondary School, have aided me considerably in developing my technique.''
The leg-spinner, who has been playing the game seriously for seven years, aims to walk in his father's disciplined footsteps. Mapp senior, 39, is also a leg-spinner.
Curtis was less fortunate than his dad with the bat, being run out without scoring.
