INDIA v SOUTH AFRICA
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998

At Rajkot, October 29. South Africa won by five wickets. Toss: India.

With Ganguly injured, Sidhu returned as opener after completing his suspension for walking out on the England tour. But it was fast bowler Srinath, sent in at No. 3, who starred with a thumping half-century. The rest of India's batting was again lame. De Villiers bowled nine overs for just 19 and Donald took another three wickets, giving him 15 at 14.06 in the series to date, a remarkable effort for a fast bowler in India. South Africa were weakened when illness ruled out Hudson and McMillan, but Rhodes seized the moment with a lovely half-century.

Man of the Match: J. N. Rhodes.
