PAKISTAN v SOUTH AFRICA Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998
At Nairobi Gymkhana, Nairobi, September 29. South Africa won by 62 runs. Toss: Pakistan. Rhodes joined Cullinan at 38 for three to add 232 in 34 overs, a fourth-wicket record for all limited-overs internationals. Both batted crisply, with Rhodes slightly more aggressive: he scored 121 from 114 balls and Cullinan 124 from 117. Pakistan needed 6.44 an over and had more chance than the final margin suggested. Salim Elahi scored a dangerous 54 and Ijaz Ahmed, who had tormented South Africa before, looked capable of setting up a fine win. He made 88 from 63 deliveries before misjudging Donald's slower ball. Rhodes and McMillan contributed to three run-outs in an immaculate fielding display. Man of the Match: J. N. Rhodes. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
