WEST INDIES v INDIA Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998
At Port-of-Spain, April 26. West Indies won by eight wickets, their target having been revised to 146 from 33 overs. Toss: India. The rain that wrecked the last two Tests arrived as if on cue to end a prolonged dry spell in Trinidad. Never heavy enough to cause an abandonment, it interrupted India's innings three times and then made a straightforward target even easier for West Indies. India were surprised by a lively pitch after Tendulkar chose to bat, but he did at least give them a rousing start, belting nine fours in a run-a-ball 44. Once he was out, the first of the showers arrived and no one else could put the innings back on track. Chanderpaul continued his rich vein, with 12 fours in 83 off 87 balls, putting the outcome beyond doubt. Man of the Match: S. Chanderpaul. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
