PAKISTAN v ZIMBABWE Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1998
At Lahore, November 1. Pakistan won by nine wickets. Toss: Zimbabwe. International debut: Abdur Razzaq. Pakistan cruised to victory with more than 21 overs to spare after Saeed Anwar and Shahid Afridi plundered 100 for the first wicket in 10.2 overs. Anwar carried on to an unbeaten 84, from 79 balls, his fourth half-century in five innings against Zimbabwe. But he was upstaged by Afridi, who smashed 66 off just 37 balls, with eight fours and four sixes, after being dropped on nought. A three-pronged pace attack included 18-year-old debutant Abdur Razzaq, who had yet to appear in first-class cricket. The bowlers caused early problems for Zimbabwe, whose only significant contribution was a fifty from Andy Flower. Man of the Match: Shahid Afridi. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
