Terbrugge passes second test, Hooper not fully fit
By Bob Dubery
9 December 1998
Young South African seamer David Terbrugge was finally declared fit
today and will play in the test match starting tomorrow. Terbrugge had
strained a side muscle during the first test and has been rested
since. He did not pass an initial fitness test yesterday, but he took
another test today and was declared fit.
Terbrugge is just 21 years old and made his test debut in the first
test match of the current West Indies/South Africa series. He made his
first class debut last season, and has yet to play a full season of
first class cricket.
Carl Hooper is still not fully recovered from the groin strain that he
sustained during the Johannesburg test. He is expected to be named in
the West Indian eleven tomorrow, but there are doubts as to whether he
will be able to bowl.
