JOHANNESBURG - Wednesday December 9th
South Africa Seam bowler David Terbrugge failed his fitness test
yesterday and is a doubtful starter for the 2nd test match against the
West Indies which starts tomorrow. Terbrugge strained a side muscle
during the 1st test, and the SA team management requested that his
provinical side, Gauteng, rest him last weekend as a precaution.
Team physiotherapist Craig Smith pronounced Terbrugge ``only 80 percent
fit''. Captain Hansie Cronje added ``if he is not completely fit he
will not play.''
No replacement has been announced. Lance Klusener, whose own fitness
is still not certain, or Makhaya Ntini are the most likely candidates.
