New Zealand Cricket Captain to donate $20,000 to Heart Children of New Zealand Inc.

Stephen Fleming, the New Zealand Captain, will have a pleasant duty to perform when the New Zealand team gather in Auckland prior to their departure to the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Several children from the Heart Unit, Greenlane Hospital Auckland will join the team at and they will be presented with a $20,000 cheque in the shape of a cricket bat by the New Zealand Captain, Stephen Fleming, on behalf of the Queen Street Cricket Club.

The Queen Street Cricket Club (Q.S.C.C.) was founded in December 1989 as a charitable organisation to raise funds for the disadvantaged children of New Zealand with cricket, and more particularly, the performance of the New Zealand Cricket Team, as the focus for its fund raising activities.

When a New Zealand Test player fails to score with the bat (commonly known as a 'Duck') every Member of the Q.S.C.C. is fined $5.00. To this end the Q.S.C.C. has raised over $250,000. While some believe the Club’s means of fund raising is a guaranteed form of cashflow, the amount raised proves the members of the Q.S.C.C. are the team’s greatest supporters!
