The executive committee of sports' ruling body in the country, in a meeting last night, chose the German company, who was the lowest bidder in the international tender, for the job of building a new floodlight system prior to the ICC knock-out World Cup, scheduled to be held in October this year. The meeting was chaired by the NSC chairman and State Minister for Youth and Sports Obaidul Quader. Deputy Minister for Shipping and Bangla-desh Cricket Board (BCB) pre-sident Saber Hossain Chow-dhury, Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) president Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman and the NSC secretary ASM Ali Kabir also attended the mee-ting.
The executive committee is reported to have chosen Siemens unanimously, but it opted to include few conditions to the contract. The sources in the NSC however could not provide any details of the conditional awarding of the work.
