PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1997

At Sharjah, October 12. Pakistan won by 82 runs. Toss: Pakistan.

Pakistan gained revenge for their home defeat by Sri Lanka with a crushing win. It could have been even more crushing but for tailenders Kalpage and Dharmasena, who put on 60 after combining at 114 for seven. Aamir Sohail had taken four of those; earlier, he made 85 and shared an opening stand of 107 with Salim Elahi, whose average after four one-day internationals stood at 76. Inzamam-ul-Haq scored a dashing 69 in 59 balls, hitting three sixes. Sri Lanka's only pace bowler, Wickremasinghe, was their most expensive, going for nearly eight an over.

Man of the Match: Aamir Sohail.
