BANGLADESH v PAKISTAN Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1996
At Sharjah, April 8. Pakistan won by six wickets. Toss: Bangladesh. International debut: Naimur Rahman. Pakistan beat Bangladesh with little exertion and 20 overs to spare. Wasim Akram reached the target of 152 with his second six, but the scoreboard showed only 151 so he edged another four, which did not count. On the official reckoning, he scored 30 from 25 balls, having added a rapid 45 with Inzamam-ul-Haq. Wasim also took two cheap wickets, despite a bad shoulder. He and Aamir Nazir had Bangladesh at 19 for four, though Aminul Islam and captain Akram Khan put on 72 and enabled their team to bat out time. Akram Khan even had his score increased by three, as the third umpire had seen a fielder tread on the boundary. But that only just lifted Bangladesh above three an over. Man of the Match: Wasim Akram. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
