WEST INDIES v AUSTRALIA 1994-95 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1996
At St Vincent, March 15. West Indies won by seven wickets, their target having been revised to 206 from 46 overs. Toss: Australia. West Indies' batting secured the series without the help of Lara, nursing a hip injury. Australia scrapped hard for a so-so total on a lively pitch at scenic Arnos Vale, where the neighbours are goats and ships. Slater fought his way to 68 and the Waugh twins and Boon chipped in. Rain pruned West Indies' target to 206 from 46 overs. At 61 for two after 20, they were vulnerable, and Warne seemed back to his best. But Taylor wanted to save him for the finale, replaced him with Blewett, and West Indies lashed out against his featureless medium-pace. Suddenly, Simmons was a new man, adding 96 in 15 overs with Hooper, whose 56 off 40 balls with Arthurton then provided the knockout punch. Man of the Match: P. V. Simmons. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
