UNITED ARAB EMIRATES v PAKISTAN Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995
At Sharjah, April 17. Pakistan won by nine wickets. Toss: United Arab Emirates. Pakistan's crushing victory ensured that they and India would be in the last four. It was a disappointing performance by the Emirates after their promising debut four days earlier. They were 68 for six at the mid-point of their innings, though a stand of 57 between Johanne Samarasekera, brother of Sri Lankan opener Athula, and Arshad Laiq took them well into three figures. Pakistan needed less than half their 50 overs to knock off 146 runs. Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail set off with a breakneck 76 in ten overs, and Inzamam-ul-Haq scored a 47-ball fifty. Man of the Match: Ata-ur-Rehman. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
