SOUTH AFRICA v AUSTRALIA 1993-94 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995
At Durban, February 24. South Africa won by seven wickets. Toss: Australia. More superb seam bowling by Matthews and Simons had Australia in such trouble that only three batsmen reached double figures. A well-grassed pitch meant that a total of around 200 would have been useful, but without Border's unbeaten 69 the visitors would not have managed half that. South Africa galloped home with five overs to spare: Cronje capped a magnificent four games with 50 not out, to take his aggregate to 304 in three completed innings. He was accompanied by Wessels, whose unbeaten 40 settled home nerves following three early setbacks. The easy win gave South Africa a 3-1 lead after the first four one-day games, with the remaining four to be played under lights after the Test series. Man of the Match: C. R. Matthews. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
