INDIA v SRI LANKA 1993-94
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995

At Rajkot, February 15. India won by eight runs. Toss: Sri Lanka. International debuts: U. N. K. Fernando, W. P. U. J. C. Vaas.

Sidhu's sparkling form extended into the one-day series: his 108 off 132 balls, without a six, carried the Indian innings. After his opening stand of 122 with Prabhakar was ended by the first of three run-outs, India struggled to make the most of the closing overs.

Sri Lanka were always in with a chance of scoring 247, especially when Jayasuriya and De Silva added 63 for the fifth wicket. But once De Silva fell at 218, the later batsmen could not quite cope with the climbing asking-rate; they scored only seven of the 16 needed from Srinath's final over.

Man of the Match: N. S. Sidhu.
