WEST INDIES v ENGLAND 1993-94
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1995

Toss: England. England comfortably defended what seemed an inadequate total, but this was not so much a victory for them as a surrender by West Indies. Complacency had marked the home team's preparations, with four players, the captain included, failing to arrive for eve-of-match practice, and this attitude translated to their batting. All the main batsmen were out to rash attacking strokes and, by the time Adams showed a more rational approach, it was all too late. England's fifth consecutive one-day win over West Indies was launched by a fine innings from Atherton. Playing, remarkably, only his 11th limited-overs international and his first since he was named Man of the Series against West Indies in 1991, he batted through 46 overs, compensating for low scores by the rest of the top four and allowing Hick and Maynard the freedom to carry the total past 200.

Man of the Match: M. A. Atherton.
