SOUTH AFRICA v WEST INDIES Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994
At Cape Town, February 17. South Africa won by four runs. Toss: West Indies. Neither side's batsmen could come to terms with good bowling on a pitch of uneven bounce that offered considerable sideways movement. Patterson immediately plunged South Africa into trouble, removing both openers with five on the board, and only Cullinan, in his second limited-overs international, looked comfortable, hitting 40 from 55 balls. A total of 140 seemed inadequate but superb fielding and accurate bowling kept West Indies under pressure. Haynes fell for nought to a direct hit by Rhodes from cover point, the first of three run-out victims. Man of the Match: W. J. Cronje. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
