SOUTH AFRICA v PAKISTAN Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994
At Durban, February 9. Pakistan won by ten runs. Toss: South Africa. Pakistan, who lost Saeed Anwar in the first over, struggled in their innings and South Africa seemed well on the way to victory when Hudson and Wessels put on 101 for the first wicket. They started the last ten overs at 159 for one, needing only 50 to win. But Kirsten missed a cut against Asif Mujtaba off the first ball of the 41st over and in the next Hudson was bowled for 93 by a late in-swinger from Waqar Younis. Waqar went on to claim five wickets, all bowled, for ten runs and, with the bonus of three run-outs, ensured that South Africa suffered an astonishing collapse. Man of the Match: Waqar Younis. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
