PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994
At Sharjah, February 2. Pakistan won by eight wickets. Toss: Pakistan. Pakistan assured themselves of a place in the final by overtaking Sri Lanka's 180 with 5.4 overs to spare. Exactly half Sri Lanka's runs came from Gurusinha, who hit three sixes and five fours, but he could find little support after losing Hathurusinghe. Wasim Akram claimed three wickets, including Gurusinha, in his final spell, and figures of four for 24 were to earn him the match award. Against Pakistan's batsmen, only the occasional off-spinner De Silva had much success, removing both openers in quick succession, but not until they had put on 132 for the first wicket. Man of the Match: Wasim Akram. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
