PAKISTAN v ZIMBABWE Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994
At Sharjah, February 1. Pakistan won by 49 runs. Toss: Zimbabwe. International debuts: Arshad Khan; G. A. Briant. Zimbabwe's first appearance at Sharjah ended in defeat, but not disgrace. In reply to Pakistan's 262, the Flower brothers opened with 121 in 29 overs and took a heavy toll of the bowling of debutant Arshad Khan. But only their captain, Houghton, made significant runs after that and Waqar Younis dismissed him for his 100th wicket in 59 limited-overs internationals. Earlier, Shah had been the most successful of Zimbabwe's bowlers, removing Saeed Anwar, Javed Miandad and Salim Malik to reduce Pakistan to 88 for four. Inzamam-ul-Haq rallied the innings with a forceful 90, including 11 fours. Man of the Match: Inzamam-ul-Haq. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
