AUSTRALIA v PAKISTAN Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994
At Sydney, January 14 (day/night). Australia won by 23 runs. Toss: Australia. Although the finalists were already settled, the match attracted Sydney's largest crowd of the season to date. Boon and Taylor shared the only century opening partnership of the tournament, and although Waqar Younis took three wickets in ten balls in his final spell, Australia scored 77 off the last ten overs. Pakistan were promisingly placed at 130 for two but then Ramiz Raja, Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram fell to spin in the space of three runs. Inzamam-ul-Haq and Asif Mujtaba added 71 but Australia were never seriously threatened again. It was Pakistan's sixth consecutive defeat in the competition.
