Pakistan returned from their short tour of New Zealand to continue where they had left off three weeks earlier, with a collapse. They capitulated to West Indies by lunch, the fastest finish in the tournament's history. On a pitch offering the fast bowlers some lift and movement they showed no fight, had lost half their wickets for 12 runs by the eighth over and were bowled out in 23.4 overs. This time they fell three short of their previous lowest limited-overs total. Bishop claimed three of his five wickets in his opening spell and returned to round off the innings.

West Indies had no difficulty knocking off the runs; Richardson completed the formalities with a six over long-off off Mushtaq Ahmed. But there were two casualties: Simmons and Murray had collided as Simmons caught Wasim Akram. He had concussion, and Murray strained his back.
