PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994

At Perth, December 4 (day/night). Pakistan won by five wickets. Toss: West Indies. International debut: J. R. Murray.

Although Pakistan won with only four balls remaining, the target was always well within their grasp. Javed Miandad gathered his runs with characteristic innovation and scored 45 singles off his 82 balls. Then Inzamam-ul-Haq and Wasim Akram provided the necessary impetus to keep Pakistan on course towards the end, Wasim completing the victory with a square-leg boundary off Ambrose. West Indies started shakily when Haynes received a dubious decision in the second over. Even Lara, who scored 59, could never raise the rate above four an over.

Man of the Match: Wasim Akram.

Attendance: 7,950.
