WEST INDIES v PAKISTAN 1992-93 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994
At Port-of-Spain, March 27. Pakistan won by seven wickets. Toss: West Indies. International debut: Nadeem Khan. Much of the prize money for Pakistan's second win in their last 11 one-day games against West Indies went towards a fine for bowling only 45 overs in the time allotted for 50. Pakistan owed victory not to the shortfall, however, but to Inzamam-ul-Haq and Asif Mujtaba, who plundered West Indies' bowling for 131 from 18 overs. They also had to thank Aamir Sohail and Ramiz Raja, for a brisk start of 71 from 13 overs. For the first time in the series West Indies decided to bat, fearing that the pitch, the one used the day before, would be losing its bounce. Lara's first failure heralded West Indies' first defeat. Its impact was softened by a stand of 82 from Haynes and Simmons, but it was only in the last 15 overs that West Indies gathered momentum. Man of the Match: Inzamam-ul-Haq. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
