SOUTH AFRICA v INDIA 1992-93 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994
At Durban, December 17 (day/night). South Africa won by 39 runs. Toss: India. For the first time in the series the team winning the toss and batting second failed to gain victory. Though Wessels and Kirsten added 93 in 23 overs for the second wicket, South Africa were unable to keep the initiative for long against a steady attack. Kapil Dev, in particular, bowled with exemplary control. Later, Donald and De Villiers were equally accurate and India were seldom allowed any leeway. The visitors required 217 but again failed to do themselves justice; only Azharuddin and Kapil Dev hinted India might mount a challenge, and Azharuddin fell victim to a spectacular catch by De Villiers. Man of the Match: Kapil Dev. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
