SOUTH AFRICA v INDIA 1992-93 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1994
At Verwoerdburg, December 11 (day/night). India won by four wickets. Toss: India. A dominant and entertaining hundred by the left-hander Raman sealed India's victory on a hard, fast pitch, which suited both their strokemakers and spinners. India reached a target of 215 with five balls to spare; Shastri hit with good judgment after Raman was sixth out, and further justified his recall with the ball, bowling Kirsten for 19. Raman's first century for India included only one chance, at 106, and was full of orthodox driving and assured hitting on the leg side. He shared timely stands with Azharuddin and Tendulkar. South Africa had been given a good platform by Hudson and Wessels, but lost momentum against Kumble and Shastri. Man of the Match: W. V. Raman. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
